What is P2Pool?

P2Pool is a decentralized mining pool that operates without a central server. Instead of trusting a pool operator with your hashrate and funds, P2Pool uses its own sidechain to coordinate miners and distribute rewards directly to your wallet.

Originally forked from SChernykh's P2Pool for Monero, this implementation has been extensively rewritten and improved for Salvium.

Why P2Pool?

Pool Type Payouts Fee Min. Payout Centralized? Control
Centralized Pool Regular 0-3% 0.001-0.01 SAL Yes Pool admin controls funds
Solo Mining Rare 0% Full block reward No 100% your control
P2Pool Regular 0% ~0.04 SAL No 100% your control

Features

Decentralized
No central server that can be shutdown or blocked. No pool admin to go rogue.
0% Fee
All rewards go directly to miners. No pool fees, no payout fees.
Trustless
No pool wallet. Funds are never in custody. Blocks pay directly to miners.
PPLNS Payouts
Fair reward distribution based on shares in a 6-hour sliding window.
Uncle Blocks
Orphaned shares are still counted. All your work is accounted for.
Fast Blocks
10-second sidechain block time for frequent share submissions.

How Payouts Work

When you mine on P2Pool, you submit shares to the sidechain. Each share stays in the PPLNS window for up to 2160 blocks (~6 hours).

When P2Pool finds a Salvium mainchain block, the reward is split proportionally among all miners with shares in the PPLNS window. Your payout is based on the total difficulty of your shares relative to the window's total difficulty.

Note: If your shares exit the PPLNS window before a block is found, they won't receive a payout. However, over time this averages out - some shares may receive multiple payouts when blocks are found quickly.

P2Pool Mini & Nano

Coming Soon: The P2Pool Mini and Nano sidechains are not yet operating for Salvium. These lower-difficulty sidechains will be launched once there is sufficient hashrate and demand. For now, please use the main P2Pool sidechain.

When available, miners with lower hashrate will be able to use these sidechains to find shares more frequently:
